Wonderful Ganutell for Churches

This magnificent Ganutell work of art adorns the beautiful statue of the Transfiguration in Lija's Parish Church. My daughter Miriam was a great help for the completion of this work.

I started working on these ganutell fjuretti on February 2007 and the whole set of ten was completed ten months later. They were months of hard work but in the end the result was very rewarding. They adorned the main altar of St Peter's Monastery Chapel at Mdina on the 25th of February- the feast day of the Blessed Adeodatd Pisani.

These are four ganutell fjuretti out of the set of ten. They are the (Sekonda fjuretti) for the main alter of St. Peter's Monastery in Mdina, Malta.

St Paul's Ganutell Fjuretti

The four fjuretti which I finished early this year can now be seen in St. Paul's Bay Parish Church.

Each ganutell fjurett consists of 174 flowers, all Molla flowers. In the centre of every flower, is a Zwarovski Chaton decorated with gold boullion. Fine pearls and Delicia glass beads are also used to decorate the flowers. Red, yellow, brown and charteuse colours are evenly distributed, so that no colour dominates the other three.

I needed 1,000 hours to finish each one. Yes, I needed not only stamina but also a good dose of perseverance.

Beleive it or not there are 2,148 sugar paper leaves in each fjurett. All hand painted.

I must say I am exteremly satisfied with the result and I also thank publicly Fr. Joseph Cilia, parish priest of St. Paul's Bay, for having faith in me to do this magnificant ganutell project.
